Easy 4000 footer today. Mt. Moosilauke, 4802 ft. That’s my 21st 4K in NH, still have 27 to go!

I went up the George Brook Trail and the only tricky part was a couple of washouts early on. The Dartmouth Outing Club will have a pretty big job fixing them.

The book says 3.7 miles each way and 3.5 hours. I did the whole thing in about four hours. It’s a nice summit. The last half mile is through scrub pine and then open to the summit. The AT crosses the summit from left to right (south to north). There’s a old foundation below the summit to the south and there are several three sided rock walls if you want to get out of the north wind. There’s a nice view down to Lincoln.

After the hike I headed into Linclon for a piece of Lemon meringue pie and some coffee. On the way home I drove up through Franconia Notch. There was traffic at the top of the notch due to paving but that worked out good because there was a black bear and two cubs walking across one of the lower ski trails on Cannon so it was nice going slow through there.

At 8 frames a second there are bound to be a few mistakes along the way. Most of them get deleted in camera or later when editing the take. And then there are the happy mistakes.

Scary play in the top of the third today at Hartford. BU had a runner on first and attempted a sac bunt but the bunt attempt was missed and the runner was clearly going to be out at 2nd. But no one told her that. I was on an 8 foot step ladder in left center with a 400mm + 1.4 TC and I had a remote firing from the third base dugout. Here's what I got . It was the third out of the inning and both players continued in the game after receiving attention by their respective trainers.

One more basketball game for me this season. Sunday my Hartford Hawks take on the Huskies of UCONN in the first round of the NCAA tournament at Gampel Pavilion.

But she's pretty cute anyway. 400mm f/2.8 - 1.4TC so about 560mm f/4 - these were at about f/5.6 a varying shutter speeds and an exposure adjustment of about +.7 to adjust for the bright background. I sat in the snow for about 20 minutes before they would come back to the feeder and then I only stayed there for a few minutes because I was keeping them from dinner!

Yale upsets Florida State University - WBB

Florida State (7-3) may have been looking past Yale (3-7) to there meeting with #1 UCONN Tuesday night at the XL Center. Yale shot 42% from beyond the arch and took a 55-42 lead to the locker room at half time. But the Seminoles came back in the second half to take a 65-64 lead with 10:44. The Bulldogs battled back in the closing minutes to secure the victory.

CCSU football traveled up the Mass Pike to take on Albany in an important NEC Friday night match up. CCSU started flat and fell behind until the 4th quarter. A TD and a 2 point conversion tied the game and sent it to OT. Albany had the ball first but fumbled. That left CCSU with an opportunity to only have to kick a FG for the win.

Senior Joe Izzo kicked his third field goal of the game from 32-yards out to give the Central Connecticut football team a 30-27 overtime win over Albany on Friday night.

I love my job - amazing stories all day at mile 25 of the Boston Marathon this year. Dana Farber raised money to fight cancer and has a strong presence at mile 25 of the race just before Kenmore Square. These three sisters ran together, as I imagine they have done for 40 years. They are 42, 44, and 40 years old from left to right.
