Basketball season is in full swing. I've been busy covering UCONN opponents over the past month or so. I've covered Iona College, St. Rose, Vanguard, Boston University, Hartford and Vermont. It means I'm sitting at the UCONN defensive end of the floor on most nights. The other photogs like to have a little fun with that but I don't mind as long as I'm working.

High school basketball fills in the night when I'm not shooting UCONN, UHART or CCSU. Add some Trank and Field and Ice Hockey and the schedule is pretty full.

This is a shot of a freshman guard for UCONN as he was guarding the inbounds pass.

Brynn

Long time no blog. I finally did a shoot with a Model Mayhem model. We picked a cloudy rainy day at Hammonassette Beach State Park in Madison. We met at the park and did the best we could to get some interesting shots. I used three different lens; 70-200mm f/2.8, 50mm f/1.4 and a 85mm f/1.4 with the D3 for the images. The image you see here was made with two SB800 speedlights. The key light was camera right through a shoot-through umbrella and the second light was low camera left and almost behind the model for some hair/rim light.

University of Hartford Softball

The University of Hartford took on Holy Cross Wednesday in West Hartford. The Hawks defeated the team from HC twice by identical 2-1 scores. Pitching was the highlight of the day on both squads.

It was nice to be back outdoors shooting at ISO 200 (meaning there was lots of light) instead of ISO 2500 (meaning there’s very little light). I used a remote camera fixed on second base and fired via pocketwizard. Of the 200 or so shots from that camera I kept exactly one. But that one shot is pretty interesting. It’s a somewhat wider shot of a play at second where the second baseman has made the tag and is showing the umpire that she still has the ball. But the umpire is in the background and has already called the runner safe.

It’s back indoors tomorrow for NCAA hockey in Bridgeport and then on to Trenton for the NCAA Women’s Basketball Regional’s on Sunday and Tuesday.

ouch

I heard an interview after the game where Geno said the injury didn't interest him after he saw that it wasn't a knee or an ankle. The face me made tell me otherwise. I wants us to think he's a tough Philly guy (which he is!) but he cares about the kids. It was nice to see the hug that he shared with Jen after the game.
